Merino woolen beinlingen
Beinlingen are undoubtably the most complicated garment to make: they should fit the leg like a second skin, yet still allow every move: sitting, kneeling, jumping, fighting, dancing, - everything you do on a medieval event. And all that without sagging, twisting, ripping or otherwise getting in the way.
At Gewand Manufaktur, we didn't copy an existing beinlingen pattern, as we found flaws in them. Instead, we developed our own beinlingen 'from the ground up'. It's not perfect, but it won't get any closer to perfection either. Firstyly, that's because we cut a new pattern for every client. So your beinlingen are made for your legs and your legs only.
Secondly, our beinlingen are attached on the side of the hip by being tied to a belt (belt is included with every pair of beinlingen). This style of attachment reduces the unwanted sagging and twisting of the beinlingen for example when sitting down.
Last but not least, our fine Merino wool is the best wool quality to make a pair of comfortable beinlingen: it breathes, doesn't itch, and its weft allows a slight elasticity without the garment losing shape.
We recommend to use silk yarn points for attaching the beinlingen to the belt.
